Bumble Bee Daycare & Learning Center Inc.

(Ages 1 Year Old – 5th Grade)

In accordance with the policies of the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), all parents must be advised of the Disciplinary & Expulsion Procedures at Bumble Bee Daycare & Learning Center Inc.

Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Discipline is used as a teaching and guidance tool, not as punishment, and is designed to promote self-regulation, responsibility, and respect.

Discipline Philosophy

Bumble Bee Daycare & Learning Center Inc. uses developmentally appropriate, positive behavior guidance practices for children ages 1 year old through 5th grade. Staff work closely with children to teach appropriate behavior while supporting each child’s emotional well-being and self-esteem.

Approved Discipline Practices

The following practices are used consistently across all classrooms:

Positive Guidance and Redirection

Children are calmly redirected toward appropriate behaviors and activities using respectful language.

Verbal Guidance and Teaching

Staff explain expectations, classroom rules, and appropriate behavior in a way children can understand based on their age and development.

Natural and Logical Consequences

Consequences are directly related to the behavior (for example, removing a toy that is being used unsafely).

Emotional Regulation Support

Children are supported in calming their bodies and emotions with adult guidance while remaining supervised at all times.

Problem-Solving and Restorative Practices

Children, especially elementary students, are guided to reflect on their behavior and practice more appropriate choices.

Documentation and Communication

Incident Reports are completed for serious or repeated behaviors and shared with parents. Parents may be asked to meet with administration to support behavior improvement plans when necessary.

Unacceptable Behaviors

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Aggression toward others
  • Disrespectful behavior
  • Bullying
  • Severe or repeated temper tantrums
  • Biting
  • Threatening behavior
  • Bringing or threatening to bring any type of weapon

Incident Reports, Suspension & Expulsion

A student may be temporarily suspended after two (2) incident reports. A student may be expelled after three (3) incident reports, depending on severity.

Serious safety concerns, including threats or weapons, may result in immediate expulsion without prior incidents.

Expulsion or withdrawal may occur without registration refund.

Safety Policy

Any behavior that poses a risk to the safety of children or staff will be taken seriously.

The center reserves the right to remove a child immediately and notify appropriate authorities if required.

Prohibited Discipline Practices

In accordance with DCF regulations, the following are strictly prohibited:

  • Corporal punishment
  • Verbal abuse, humiliation, or threats
  • Isolation or confinement
  • Physical or emotional neglect
